"your reach as a viewer is vastly greater than your reach as a maker."
-art and fear.

lately, i am completely overwhelmingly fascinated with memory. memories of relationships, both amorous and platonic. so obsessed that it slightly terrifies me.
what if i forget?
what if ten years from now i don't remember his hair or the sound of her laughter after breaking through the barriers
i can't fight the feeling that i am going to forget to remember.
and that fright gnaws at my insides
at what point do i clean out old memories to make way for new
(and potentially better)
ones?

i wonder if everyone else is walking around with the same amount of intensified memories that i have
i wonder if they are equally as enamored with the idea of collecting and using them
using them for inspiration
and for the sake of reference

i don't understand how you can be an artist and be naive or innocent...
as artists, we have such a deep deep connection to emotions and situations.
if you don't feel these things this strongly
i would dare to (quite arrogantly) state that these people are not true artists.
but what good comes from such a jaded nature?
why is pain so strongly inspiring?
why does overcoming it dictate a rendering of it's conquer?

my brain is on fire of late.
